Care & Drape

CARE & DRAPE

Each ASINEV piece is hand-beaded. With care, it will outlast trends and travel decades.

GENERAL CARE

Store your cape flat in the dust bag provided. Avoid hanging on a thin wire hanger — the weight of the beadwork can pull the shoulders out of shape. If hanging, use a wide padded hanger and rest the cape over the shoulders, not from a single point.

Do not iron the beadwork. If the underlying fabric needs steaming, use a handheld steamer at distance and only on the unbeaded fabric, never the beads themselves.

CLEANING

Dry clean only, by a cleaner experienced with beaded couture. Mention to them that the beads are cutdana — hand-stitched, not glued — and ask that they hand-press rather than machine-press the piece on return.

Do not spot-clean with water or solvents at home. The beads are colour-fast but the underlying fabric is silk, viscose, or organza in most pieces, and home cleaning will mark.

DRAPE

The cape is designed to drape from the shoulders, not from the neck. Resist the urge to pull it forward. The most flattering wear is over a fitted column dress or a high-neck blouse, with the cape allowed to fall naturally.

For the mandarin-collared pieces, fasten the collar fully — these are designed to sit close. For the open pieces, let them open over a wide neckline below.

A SMALL NOTE ON LOSS

Beads are tiny things. With handling and over years, you may lose one or two. This is normal and not a fault — it's the cost of having something hand-stitched rather than glued. Send any piece back to us within twelve months and we will repair it without charge. Beyond twelve months, we will repair for cost.

TRAVEL

Fold loosely, with the beadwork on the inside. Place tissue between layers if you have it. The cape will arrive at your destination ready to wear with one quick steam of the unbeaded fabric.

For frequent travellers, ask us about our travel-friendly pieces — some of the lighter capes pack down to under 200 grams.
